The BA: Past, Present and Future Film

Screening of “The BA: Past, Present and Future” film showcases the history of the ancient Library of Alexandria, and the efforts made to revive it. The film also highlights the BA different services and activities, and is followed by a guided tour.

The screening lasts for 12 minutes, and requires prior reservation. 


Children's Show    

The Visits Department presents a cultural and entertainment show tailored for children aged 4 to 9 years old. It presents the history of the ancient Library of Alexandria, the new Library, and the services offered to children in a simplified and exciting manner through engaging animated content.

The show runs from Sunday to Thursday during the the mid-year school break 2026, from 25 January to 5 February, except for public holidays, at 12:30 pm, in the Culturama Hall. 

The show is followed by an interactive Q&A session for children and a short segment on moral values that children can adopt in their daily lives. It concludes with a physical activity in the form of a dance for children to encourage them to participate and pay attention.

Important notes:

  • The show is presented to kindergartens and primary schools for children up to nine years old.
  • The show is presented to families during school holidays on dates announced in advance.
  • The show can be booked with the Library Admission Ticket at the Visits Department's Reception Desk.
  • The show will be displayed for a minimum of five persons.
  • In case of technical issues, the show will be canceled without prior notice.

Family Visit Program                                                                               

The BA Visits Department organizes its family visit tours that are held during the mid-year and summer vacations. The tours include the following:

  • An explanation of the history of the ancient Bibliotheca Alexandrina to explain its history and a tour of the new Library to introduce its different sections and services
  • The Children’s Library and the Young People’s Library
  • The Manuscripts Museum
  • The Antiquities Museum
  • The Sadat Museum
  • Temporary and Permanent Exhibitions
  • The Culturama show

*The Family Program for the the mid-year school break 2026 wil will run daily from Sunday to Thursday, excluding public holidays, starting Sunday, 25 January until Thursday, 5 February 2026. It starts at 1:00 pm and lasts approximately two hours.

Please note that reservations are on a first-come first-served basis.

This program is only offered to “Inclusive Ticket” holders.

The Program is open to all visitors aged 4 and above.
